The Paisley Mug
₹1,800.00
The Paisley Project is a collection inspired by my love for paisley motifs and ornamental patterns. I’ve always been drawn to the way these forms curl, flow, and repeat, creating intricate designs from simple lines. For this collection, I wanted to explore these motifs on functional ceramic forms, giving them a new life through hand carving.
The collection brings together two parts of my practice that I find equally satisfying: the quiet repetition of throwing on the wheel and the slower, more deliberate process of carving patterns into clay. While the forms are simple and familiar, the carved surfaces allow each piece to develop its own character.
This particular matte glaze, was chosen after several rounds of testing. Its rich, deep tones create a striking contrast against the carved details, allowing the patterns to stand out and adding more character to the piece.
At their core, these are functional objects made to be used and lived with. I enjoy the idea of bringing intricate patterns into everyday rituals, allowing something as ordinary as reaching for a cup or bowl to become a small moment of appreciation. The Paisley Project is an exploration of how simple forms and carefully considered details can bring character to the objects we use every day.
